Instructions For Use

1.General Product Information
  • a. Product Name: Thermal Paper for Video Printer
  • b. Brand Name: SUPER ULSTAR
  • c. Intended Purpose:
  • This product is intended to be used as a consumable accessory to Thermal Type Video Printers for printing and storing video images captured from an ultrasound diagnostic device. This product is intended for use in medical environments, such as clinics and hospitals. Main target users are medical professionals, including radiologists and obstetricians, examining patients and/or fetuses through ultrasonography. Images printed on this product are for patient record and referral use only and are not intended to be used for diagnostic purpose.
  • d. Performance Characteristics:
  • Medical Image Printing requires high precision available from thermal printing method. Thermal printer uses heat to print an image onto Thermal papers, which are specially coated to make the paper surface sensitive to thermal impulses. Thermal printers are preferred over other types of printers for their convenience as they do not require other additional consumables such as ink cartridges or toners. This product has been designed to work perfectly in combination with the printers specified in the Compatibility Chart.

  • This product is not a medical device in itself, but is an accessory to a medical device. Classification of this product as a medical device may differ by country. Consult your local sales representative or government regulation office for more information.

2.Directions for Use
a.Storing Unprinted Paper
  • 1) Store unused paper in a cool and dark place (5'C/41'F ~ 30'C/86'F).
  • 2) Do not store in a hot or humid place.
  • 3) Do not leave unused paper under direct sunlight or in other bright places.
  • 4) Do not allow any volatile organic solvent or vinyl chloride.
  • 5) Do not touch the surface of unused paper with fingers as residue from fingerprints can cause damage to the printer.

b.Using Paper for printing in Thermal Printer
  • 1) Check and confirm that the width of the paper roll(110mm, 210mm, or 84mm) matches the specifications of your printer.
  • 2) Tear plastic bag open to take out paper roll, and remove the sticker attached to the end of the roll.
  • 3) Open the paper loading bin of the printer and load the paper roll correctly into printer. Please refer to your printer instructions manual as every printer model is different.
  • 4) Be careful not to fold or touch the surface of unused paper. Be sure to pull out and discard the first 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 inches) of paper. This first portion may have collected some dust or fingerprints, which can cause poor print quality as well as damage to the printer.
  • 5) Close the paper loading bin of the printer and turn on the printer.
  • 6) Before printing, set the paper type configuration on the printer to match the type of Durico product model. For example, select S for SUPER ULSTAR-1100S and SUPER ULSTAR-840S, select HD for SUPER ULSTAR-1100HD and SUPER ULSTAR-2100HD, or select HG for SUPER ULSTAR-1100HG and SUPER ULSTAR-840HG. Instructions for configuring the paper type differ by printer make and model, so please refer to your printer instruction manual for detailed directions.
  • 7) Adjust the Contrast and Brightness settings on your printer for optimal print results. Instructions for configuring contrast and brightness differ by printer make and model, so please refer to your printer instruction manual for detailed directions.
  • 8) Most printers require regular maintenance, including cleaning the thermal head and roller. Please refer to your printer instruction manual regarding instructions on maintenance of your printer for optimal print results.

c. Storing Printed Papers
  • 1) Keep the paper in a dark, cool, and dry place. When exposed to heat, humidity, or sunlight, the printed image may fade, shift color, or darken.
  • 2) Do not apply the following to the surface of the printed paper
  • - Plastic tapes
  • - Plastic erasers
  • - Copy toner
  • - Vinyl
  • - Marker ink
  • - Plasticizer such as desk mats
  • - Volatile organic solvents
  • - Alcohol
  • 3) Avoid leaving fingerprints on the surface of the printed paper.
  • 4) Do not rub the printed surface.
  • 5) Do not cover the printed paper with a commercially available laminate. The lamination may cause the printed image to smudge or darken.
  • 6) It is recommended to store each printed sheet face up, in a polypropylene pouch, or to stack with a piece of paper between each sheet.
  • 7) This product is for single use only. Do not reuse printed papers.
d. Disposal of the product
  • This product is not recyclable. Dispose of paper properly according to your local general waste disposal rules after use. Do not burn this product. You should observe your local regulations regarding disposal as this product is coated with chemicals on plastic film. For more information, contact your local authority regarding the disposal of direct thermal film.

3.Cautions
  • a. This product is for use in thermal printers only.
  • b. This product is not in itself a medical device. It is an accessory intended to be used with a medical device.
  • c. This product is for single use only. Do not reuse any part of this product after printing. Reuse can cause poor print quality as well as damage to the printer.
  • d. Do not use this Product if the plastic bag is torn, or if any unused paper has blackened.
  • e. Any incident that has occurred in relation to use of the product should be reported to the manufacturer and the appropriate local authorities.
  • f. When you load the paper roll into the printer, be sure to pull out and discard the first 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 inches) of paper. This first portion may have collected some dust or fingerprints, which can cause poor print quality as well as damage to the printer.
  • g. Always handle the paper roll carefully when you load/unload it into/from the printer to avoid exposing the paper to dust, dirt, fingerprint, etc.

5.Cleansing Thermal Printer Head
Thermal printer head may be contaminated when used for long time. Dirty printer head may produce streaks or spots. It is recommended that after printing 10 rolls of paper the printer be cleaned as per following instruction.
